Having Fun Creating Characters (or--Here Come the Catgirls!)

 It's been a while since I've updated the blog. Building the Caledon section of the ACTS campsite for RFL and putting together an exhibit (and rose hunt) for SL18B kept my creativity hopping. But before that came the novels I've been working on (for ages, it seems).

The stories are a hybridization, born from early character sketches from RP in SL (and even earlier, from a site called AncientSites). Throw in some virtual history of Caledon and poetic license and ta-da, the sparks for a novel series!

Several chapters of the novels feature the Caledon Catgirl Brigade, protectors of the Pensans region, and their headquarters, a giant flying metal cat lovingly referred to as the "Robokitty." Also featured are the rouge catgirls (and boys) who roam the waters off the coast, looking for bounty and booty. These "purrates" created the infamous purrate town Kraken Reef Run. 

These characters have been great fun to write, but I had no idea they'd be even more entertaining bringing to "life" in-world. What initially began as practice with freebie mesh bits to learn more about them (If I'm to help newbies get acclimated, I felt I needed the training) grew into more. It took a few hours, but I managed to kit out three characters from the Caledon Catgirl Brigade tonight. And all from mined inventory items (freebies), finds from the weekend sales, and carefully picked (cheap) gachas from a couple of resale shops. What cost the most was my investing in a full perm mesh uniform that all of the characters could wear (it'll eventually be modded into a more Caledonian color scheme). 

They might not win any awards, but I'm pretty happy with the results!

Without further ado, I'll introduce Major Rhody Katerine Hissey (Major Hissey, get it? 😄), one of her seconds, Lt. Clementine Zenobia Purrling, who commands the small CCB fleet, and Hissey's little sister, Cadet Agnes Violet Hissey, who unwittingly ended up under her sister's command.
